Andy C Interviewed By Beatport
Longevity. Few in dance music can claim lasting career endurance more than Ram Records main man Andy C. The secret to his success is simple. He loves doing exactly what he's doing. And what's not to love about making your living DJing, producing music, and touring the world over the past 20 years.
At the tender age of 16, UK-born Andy C. (born Andrew Clarke), 36, created 1993's proto-darkcore classic "Valley of the Shadows (31 Seconds)" alongside studio cohort Ant Miles under their Origin Unknown moniker. This lone track became a lasting blueprint for what is now one of the most celebrated and influential drum & bass labels in history, spawning a current artist stable that includes Calyx & TeeBee, Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Wilkinson, and many others.
We connected with him at home in Hornchurch, Essex, England, to find out more about the latest installment in his ongoing Nightlife mix series, including his standout jump-up single "Workout," partying at the Great Wall of China, remixing Radiohead, and never, ever stopping to rest on your laurels. Away we go... (from Beatport)
