Reso
Since the latter half of the last decade, Alex Melia aka Reso has been blending heightened technological futurism with dancefloor prowess to create a densely cinematic musical universe. 'Tangram' Reso's much anticipated debut album was released in Nov 2012 and received heavy support from Mixmag (Album of the month), XLR8R, The Guardian, FACT, RA, NME, as well as other key musical luminaries such as Liam Howlett, Skrillex, Skream & Benga, DJ Food, Salva, Rusko and more. Tangram is a landmark thirteen track odyssey that reaffirms the place of the 'album' within modern electronic music and cements Reso as one of the worlds most forward thinking producers.
Reso first entered the public domain through the dubstep explosion; and now after the release of his debut long player and a series of genre redefining EPs for Civil Music, and several choice Drum n Bass outings on the pioneering Hospital Records; we have seen Reso construct a brave new narrative in the way that timeless artists like Richard D James, Photek, DJ Shadow and A Guy Called Gerald have done for earlier generations. His deep musicality, incredible production and wildly diverse references place him at the peak of a new breed of electronic producers and have seen him engineering tracks for Burial and Jamie Woon, collaborating with Rusko, Travelling to Cuba with Norman Jay (MBE) and remixing artists as diverse as Wiley, Carl Cox, DJ Kentaro, Om Unit, KOAN Sound, Drop The Lime and Buraka Som Systema amongst others.
Emotive and unique, Reso's new rhythmic possibilities and effortlessly intricate programming take in myriad sounds and stimuli - dubstep, sci-fi, hip hop, breaks, Manga, ambient, dnb, Moving Shadow, Rephlex - with dynamic and intelligent structure. Sounds and styles he has showcased in both mixes for BBC Radio1 & 1XTra, XFM, Solid Steel, Electronic Explorations, Red Bull, NME and in performances at 10daysoff, Global Gathering, Bestival, Roskilde, Glade, Fabric and many more of the worlds best clubs and festivals.
2013 will see the release of "Tangram Remixed" before more brand Reso new material, production that is still under wraps for a significant and exciting record/artist, development of a full live show and the announcement of a brand new side project, plus continuing his hectic tour schedule worldwide.
Continually pushing boundaries with his profound musical dexterity Reso remains an essential artist for all electronic music fans. His sonic take over is truly underway.
