Modest in his core, yet exceptionally passionate when it comes to performances and creating music, Adaro is unquestionably one of the most ambitious artists within the hardstyle scene. As a DJ, Adaro has the look and feel of a true entertainer - his undying energy and widespread knowledge of music are just some of his greatest assets on stage.
After years of watching his biggest heroes behind the decks at clubs and huge indoor events,
Thijs Ploegmakers, or better known as Adaro had a growing interest in not only listening to electronic music but also immersing himself in the world of production. Grabbing his passion for music with both hands, Thijs went on to spin records with his friends and in the year 1998, he pursued his dream further and began producing.
Beginning his productions within other genres of dance music, Thijs then shifted his attention to hardstyle in 2008 which saw him working and collaborating regularly with Ran-D, resulting in their first release on A2 Records, "My Name Is Hardstyle" in 2009. Little did Thijs know that this first release would signify a life-time of achievements, an impressive and diverse discography, rewarding memories and several memorable performances...
Adaro continued to pursue his own signature sound, which is a sound that has captivated thousands of fans around the world and has also inspired many budding producers. Adaro's sound can be simply described as a sophisticated and atmospheric approach to hardstyle, blending in a range of different sounds and packing in and endless supply of energy! His hard beats are notorious for getting fans going on the dance-floor and his diverse and addictive sound has drawn in a remarkable number of listeners worldwide. His breakthrough track, "The Haunter Of The Dark" had a huge impact on the hardstyle scene, which subsequently secured Adaro's name in a sacred position quite early on in his career. Other earlier tracks such as "Under Attack" and "Struggle For Existence" with Ran-D, as well as "Hit You With That Bang Shit" tore through dance-floors like there was no tomorrow, grasping the attention of many fans.
Quickly becoming one of the pioneers in all things rough and tough, Adaro took the next step in his career in 2011 and created the stellar act Gunz For Hire alongside counterpart member Ran-D. After already producing a collection of hits together, the two now had the chance to take this special concept to the next level and become the most renowned live-act in the history of hardstyle. Gunz For Hire also gave way for all of Ran-D and Adaro's collaborations to be showcased in a special and unique way.
Aside from long hours in the studio dedicated to Gunz For Hire, Adaro also put in time and energy to keep pursuing a rewarding solo career. After already breaking through early on, Adaro was focussed on maintaining his position within the scene and keep releasing high-quality music that fans could make a strong association with. 2012 saw some stellar releases from Adaro such as "No Time To Sleep," "The House Of Wax," his remix of "F#ck The Fake Shit" by Artic and of course, the Gunz For Hire hits "Bolivia," "Kings Of The Underground" and "Sorrow," which quickly became highly regarded anthems that represented the harder styles.
That year, Adaro also found himself playing at some of the most prestigious parties such as Qlimax, Q-BASE, Mysteryland (The Netherlands), Intents Festival, Bassleader, Defqon.1, Basscontrol (Australia) and he also had the honour to host his own night at Inshock Overdose. However, the cherry on-top of a fantastic year was when Adaro reached #120 in the DJ Mag Top 100 which signified that his music wasn't only impacting the lives of hardstyle fans in The Netherlands but it had also spread across all corners of the globe.
After a hugely successful 2012, Thijs was determined to make 2013 count and his hard work definitely paid off, leading him to climb from #120 to #75 in the DJ Mag Top 100. This position was a huge milestone for Adaro and it inspired him further to continue creating timeless music. Release-wise, 2013 brought some incredible music including "Natural Born Killers" with Digital Punk, "History," "Everyday" with Digital Punk and of course, his most renowned track yet - his remix for "Answers" by Chain Reaction. Another track which made waves amongst the scene was "For The Street," (featuring Danny Scandal) which quickly rose to top charts worldwide. It's rough and tough atmosphere, yet sophisticated and intelligent approach is what Adaro stood for musically and this is ultimately what sets him apart from many other producers.
2014 brought a time of reflection and an unexpected shift that would personally affect Thijs and his career. Suffering from hyperacusis, Adaro was forced to make the painful decision to cancel all of his performances for a portion of the year and focus on making a full recovery before he could slowly resume his career again. Fans came together to show their support to Adaro during this difficult time and although he had a short hiatus from music, he was still recognised as a pioneer. August 2014 marked one of the most incredible times in Adaro's career and one of the most legendary comebacks in hardstyle. After making a full recovery, his first performance back at Decibel 2014 was one that was truly memorable. Fans were incredibly welcoming and supportive and in turn, his official 'comeback night' at De Leerfabriek in Oosterwijk was a huge success.
After taking extra precautions during the second half of 2014, Adaro was given the all clear as he made an incredible recovery. He was back in full force in 2015 and both his performances and productions were better than ever. The year kicked off a milestone performance at Hard Bass where Adaro was a part of Team Yellow and performed alongside Crypsis, Outbreak and Frequencerz. The response from the crowd was incredible and this great start to the year didn't even begin to describe the other incredible moments in 2015. Performances followed at Reverze, Loudness, Qapital, Rebirth Festival, Intents Festival and Adaro even had the honour to close down the mainstage at Defqon.1 on its final day.
Apart from a performance schedule that's packed to the brim and some more releases to add to his agenda, another huge development came about in Adaro's career that saw him teaming up with a stellar team of artists to create something new and unique. Alongside B-Front, Frequencerz and Ran-D, the brand new label 'Roughstate' was established as a platform to represent high-quality and sophisticated hardstyle. Since the conception of the label in March 2015, Adaro has released the long awaited and timeless hit "Open The Gates" with E-Force and MC Nolz, an unforgettable track that gets all crowds dancing. Also releasing "Raggamuffin," "My Soul To Take" and "Oldschool Flow" with E-Force, Adaro has upheld his legacy to produce top-notch music that packs in a load of energy, yet retains rich storylines with old-school influences.
Recently, Adaro has worked closely with hardcore legend Rob Gee to create his trademark track of 2015, "Dark Universe," which is not only a track but has become the name of successful club nights and also festival hostings.
Working his way to become one of the leading names in the hardstyle scene, Adaro is recognised as the full-package entertainer. All pieces of the puzzle fit together, from his productions to his performances and image, Adaro isn't just a DJ and producer, but an artistic innovator.
He is the king of the underground... The haunter of the dark who will hit you with that bang sh*t... He is Adaro...
